Monograph studio, GSAPP, 2017
This work was completed during my final semester of MArch at GSAPP in lieu of a thesis.
"For my Monograph I am selecting texts, cutting through them only to reassemble the pieces into new stories. The process is rigorous and every time it allows for a different reading and understanding of the poem, its rhythm and its pace, every time a different atmosphere and imaginary is constructed.
I recognized a desire that goes beyond the understanding of words and speaks to an overall approach, that at once looks for an analytical understanding of a system as well as the atmosphere that transcends it.
Similarly, in my architecture I sought to apply a method of selection of pieces from a whole, geometrically subdividing my sites, sometimes selecting multiple pieces that emphasize density and intensity, setting a specific pace for that site, in the same way that multiple gerunds in one page set a tone of urgency, and others by selecting just one, emphasizing intentionality."
